The problem

The faith is not a feed.

If you are coming into Orthodoxy — or standing at the door — you already know the noise. Fragments of tradition. A thousand voices. No rule of prayer. No one to walk the ascent with you.

The Eastern Way is a private Christian community rooted in the Eastern Orthodox tradition. Inside you will find formation with a spine: prayer, the Fathers, the history of the Church, and an accountability programme that will not let you stay where you are.

What you enter

Four rooms of the same house — the life of the Church, ordered so a convert can actually live it.

01

Orthodox prayers

Guided prayer so you pray — morning, evening, and the hours — instead of collecting more reading about prayer.

02

Patristic wisdom

The Fathers received with care. Not slogans. The mind of the Church, given in a form a modern convert can keep.

03

Church history

The story of the faith that shaped Christianity — so you know whose house you have entered, and why it still stands.

04

Liturgical insight

How the worship of the Church forms the soul. Feasts, fasts, and the hidden logic of the liturgical year.

Ascent Accountability Programme

The Ladder of Ascent

Not another library. A structure that pushes you into the Christian the Lord has called you to be.

Drawn from the Ladder of Divine Ascent, the programme is the spine of the community. You do not walk it alone. Prayer, study, and accountability sit on the same climb — so zeal does not burn out, and the ancient faith becomes a rule of life rather than a weekend interest.

  1. 1

A rule of prayer you actually keep

  2. 2

Formation from the Fathers, not fragments

  3. 3

History that locates you in the Church

  4. 4

Accountability on the Ladder of Ascent

Who this is for

New converts

You have crossed the threshold and need formation — a rule, a people, and a path — not more noise.

Seekers

You are exploring Eastern Orthodoxy with seriousness. You want guidance on prayer, theology, and the life of the Church.

Those who would live it

You want the ancient faith in the modern world: prayer, the Fathers, history, and accountability under one roof.

“Best Orthodox online community I've ever seen. The education, accountability, the extensive research — if you're looking for a real community of other Orthodox Christians, this is by far the best place to be.”

Frequently asked questions

Is this server blessed or overseen by a priest?

Yes. This community operates under the guidance of clergy and is not an independent or self-directed initiative. The accountability system, the resources shared here, and the spiritual life of this server are not substitutes for the sacramental life of the Church. They are meant to point you toward it.

Is this server affiliated with a specific jurisdiction or church?

We are not formally affiliated with any single jurisdiction, but our teaching follows the Eastern Orthodox tradition as received through the Seven Ecumenical Councils.

Do I need to be Orthodox to join?

No. Inquirers, catechumens, members of other Christian traditions, and those simply exploring the faith are welcome. What is required is respectful engagement with the Eastern Christian tradition as it is taught here, not prior membership in the Church.

Can this server replace going to church?

No. Nothing here replaces the sacraments, which can only be received from a priest in a physical parish. This server is a place of teaching, fellowship, and accountability, not a parish, and not a substitute for one. If you are not currently attached to a local parish, we encourage and can help you find one near you.

Who do I talk to if I want to be baptised, chrismated, or received into the Church?

Message a moderator. They will point you to the right conversation, and help you find a local priest if you are not yet attached to a parish.

What if I have questions a moderator or the resources can't answer?

Bring them to the relevant discussion channel, or reach out to a moderator directly. If a question concerns something serious, a pastoral matter, a crisis, or something requiring a priest's guidance, please seek out a priest directly rather than relying on this server alone.

Is the accountability system mandatory?

Members are expected to take part in the Ladder of Ascent. The check-in is there to form a rule of life, not to police you.

What happens if I miss a day of my check-in?

Nothing punitive. The accountability system exists for growth, not guilt. Missing a day is not a failure. It is something to bring honestly to your next check-in and, if needed, to your confessor.

Why is the minimum age 16?

Because the server engages with mature doctrinal and theological material, including heavy speculative theology, debate, and discussion of difficult historical and doctrinal topics, that is not appropriate for younger children.

Can I get a refund if I am banned?

No. Please see the server rules for the full ban policy. Membership fees, including any time already served in the server, are non-refundable in the event of a ban.

Where do I start if I'm completely new to Christianity, or new to the Eastern tradition specifically?

Start with the pinned posts in the resources channel, beginning with What is the Gospel?, The Church, and Theosis. These three give the foundational shape of everything else taught here.
